Rose & Womble New Homes Specialist, Jen Barkan, is proud to host a weekly social media chat called #AskJenLive! Each week, Jen brings an adoptable dog with her while she features an available new home or new homes community. As if that isn’t cool enough, each new homes builder sponsors the dog by paying for its adoption fees once a suitable owner is found!
This week, #AskJenLive paid tribute to our Veterans and local Hampton Roads military community. Jen also visited our new homes community, Saddlebrook Estates, in Suffolk, Va.
It’s Field Trip Day and I have Miss Bella! She’s a Maltese mix pup with lots of personality! We’re headed to Saddlebrook Estates to see our new homes and talk about all the great military appreciation incentives our builders offer our veterans!
Hampton Roads is home to multiple military bases and therefore many active duty and military Veterans that have selflessly served our country. I am truly proud to live within such a strong military community.
I am also so proud to work with many new homes builders that support our local military community, such as Hearndon Construction. In addition to providing military appreciation programs, our builders have designed communities that are located just a short distance from local military bases, ensuring an easy commute.

Once we arrived at Saddlebrook Estates by Hearndon Construction, we were greeted by our beautiful onsite sales executive, Michelle, on the porch of the model home! Bella made herself right at home.
We love the Monmoth model home here at Saddlebrook Estates. This is a view of the family room looking into the sunroom. Do you guys like the interior design? I do! Another perk of this community are the stables and horses–so beautiful!
Here’s my video tour of the Monmoth Model at Saddlebook Estates:
About the Builder:
Today’s featured community is built by Hearndon Construction. This builder is an avid supporter of the Hampton Roads military community, and offers a special Veterans’ Appreciation Program for all Hearndon Construction homes.
And as a bonus,Hearndon Construction is sponsoring today’s featured pup, Bella, from the Norfolk SPCA. She is ready to find her fur-ever home, just like you! Contact myself or the Norfolk SPCA if you’d like to schedule a meet and greet with this cutie!
After leaving Saddlebrook Estates, I popped by Panera Bread for what I thought would be an average lunch. Instead, I met Amos Neill.
“It’s not by chance that we met today,” said my new friend Amos.
He is an extraordinary Veteran, and worked with Ronald Reagan for 34 years. I was lucky enough to hear some of his stories during lunch. Check out his book “Forty Years in the Wilderness” here.
