Elizabeth City is located on the northeastern corner of North Carolina, offering a surprising variety of attractions and family-friendly amenities.
The heart of downtown offers over 90 restaurants, cafes, and bistros for foodies and seafood lovers. Not only is this area a popular spot for visitors and families, but a new enthusiasm for reviving and developing the city has led to new institutions like the Museum of Albemarle, Port Discover, and the Downtown Waterfront Market. And of course, there is plenty of shopping and antiquing and galleries for patrons of different interests to explore.
The proximity to several major military hubs makes this an ideal location for military families or members. Elizabeth City is a home to the U.S. Coast Guard as well as an hour commute to Norfolk’s Naval bases. Being recently declared “Coast Guard City,” Elizabeth City provides all the great services and support for active and retired military members.
