Blog ~ News and Updates on Hearndon Homes

September 14th, 2017

Fall is one of our favorite decorating seasons at Hearndon Construction! It’s easy to fall in love with the cozy warmth that you can create in your home during this time of year, whether it be through design or by spending time in your home with the ones you love. To help you achieve that fall-look, we’ve put together some decorating ideas that can inspire the autumn look that best suits you and your home:

Pumpkin as a centerpiece vase

Pumpkins aren’t just for the porch. Get creative with your pumpkins and perhaps use one as the focal point centerpiece for your dining table. You can carve out the center and use it to hold an arrangement of fall foliage and florals, or even decorate the pumpkin with lace, paint it white or use foliage stencils and stamps to give the exterior another pop of fall fun.

Add a rocking chair

Nothing says southern fall better than a nice rocking chair. We love the look of a rocking chair with a nice fall throw over the back—either on the porch or indoors too. Explore adding a throw pillow (or two!) or frame the chair with some decorated pumpkins on the floor or some fall stay-in-your-pjs books nearby for a cozy evening in.

Bring the outdoors in

Save money on decor and let Mother Nature provide all of your design materials. Things we love to incorporate; leaves, pinecones, wheat, cuts of wood, crabapple branches, birch wood, gourds and more! You can use all of these materials to make potpourri, a striking piece of wall art, centerpiece, wreaths, votives, coasters and more!

Create a rustic mantel masterpiece

The rustic look is a great design to create that farmhouse fall look in your home. To achieve this look, we recommend things like adding wood beams, metal brackets, antique mirrors or picture frames, rusted metal jugs or pitchers, a raw, untreated wood crate for firewood, books or blankets, and more.

Warm up your color palette

Add in deep reds, burnt oranges, golden yellows, browns and hunter greens to add that rich warmth to your home. We recommend swapping out simple design items like throw pillows, rugs, throws, curtains and table runners for ones that incorporate these colors to help add those pops of autumn throughout your home.
